Donna Hekman, DVM
Dr. Donna Hekman is a native of Ft. Lauderdale. After graduating from Calvin College with a degree in Biology, she attended the University of Florida and earned her DVM in 1995. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine in 1995-96, and has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Coconut Creek/Parkland area for the past 16 years. She enjoys hanging out with her guys - her husband and two boys - and her black lab Jenny. Her hobbies include Gator football, baking cool treats for her boys' class parties, sci-fi movies and TV shows, and running.
Sara Goldberger, DVM
Dr. Sara Goldberger is local to the area having grown up in Parkland, and is thrilled to be returning to her hometown. She attended the University of Florida where she received both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. Following graduation, she returned to South Florida to practice small animal medicine. Dr. Goldberger enjoys the variety of being a general practitioner and has special interests in dentistry, preventive care, and client education. She shares her home with her husband, son, and two dogs - Lexi, a Papillon, and Griffin, a schnauzer mix. She enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.
Claudia Martinez, DVM
Dr. Martinez graduated from the University of Florida in 2010 and completed an internship in NYC the following year. Since then, she has been practicing in south Florida. Her professional interests include nutrition, dentistry and geriatric care. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her chihuahua Cocoa Bean. Dr. Martinez also enjoys running half marathons, traveling and watching Gator football. Dr. Martinez is very excited to be part of the Brookside Animal Hospital family.
Ayxa Rosado Martinez, DVM
Dr. Ayxa Rosado Martinez was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology from the University of Puerto Rico, she attended Tuskegee University, College of Veterinary Medicine where she obtained her DVM. Upon graduation, Dr. Rosado became part of the Brookside Animal Hospital to practice small animal medicine. Dr. Rosado’s areas of most interest include small animal rehabilitation and physical therapy, surgery, and dentistry. Dr. Rosado loves to spend her free time with her loved ones, especially her father, her fiancé, and her two furry companions, Chile the cat and Stella her Golden Retriever. On her free time, she also enjoys exercising, traveling, cooking, and going to the beach.
Michael Hannwacker, DVM
Dr. Michael Hannwacker was born in New York but grew up in Dublin, Ireland, from a young age. He graduated from Trinity College School of Veterinary Medicine. He met his wife, was married and their first son was born in Ireland before moving to Florida. They have 2 sons, 1 daughter in law and 1 grandson.While they had yellow Labradors for a number of years, they currently have a 17 year old cat who is queen of the household.Dr Hannwacker and his wife enjoy traveling, concerts, movies and museums. Dr Hannwacker enjoys all things related to the sea including going to the beach, snorkeling and boating. In practice he enjoys helping pets get well and he loves to help our older pets age gracefully and comfortably .
